Did I Make a Difference?

Most people spend the majority of their life filling their days with the pursuit of meaningless activities and pleasure, constantly seeking fulfillment of all types with food, drink, hobbies, music, television, movies, recreation, sports, etc. It's one attempt after another to fill the time with something in the moment that we think is important for us. But when we reach the end of our days, looking back after, 60, 70, or 80+ years on this earth, there is really only one thing that matters, both to us and to God. There is only one question that we should ask as our time of departure draws near. Did I make a difference? In my time in this world did my life make a difference in the lives of others in some positive way? None of the other empty "things" and "activities" we thought were so important that we filled our time with really matter at the end of our physical life, and beyond in God's Kingdom. We are just spinning our wheels, filling empty time, and wasting our life. For our life to have had some meaning or purpose the only thing that matters is making a difference in the lives of others, by helping, serving, teaching, encouraging, loving, sharing, and caring for them. So instead of wasting thousands of hours of our lives with empty pursuits that are absolutely meaningless at the end of our life, do something with time, money, and energy that makes a difference in the lives of others. Only now doI understand what is really important. I can die in peace, looking back at the big picture of 70 years of living, and realize, "my life made a difference" in the lives of so many people that I never understood at the time. Make a difference today while you still can!
